Comments about the weekend...

It's a good time for a Marriage Encounter...

"I think we have a good marriage. Sure I'm lonely, hurt or disappointed at times, but isn't everyone? We have a better marriage than most of our friends and family so this must be how it is. Or is it?"

"We are looking for a way to reconnect. We've just been through a few years that have been so full. They flew by and here we are all of the sudden, looking at each other and realizing we have both been growing. We want to grow together."

"We talk things out. We talk and talk. But we never seem to have a satisfying resolution anymore. We can't figure what we're doing wrong and we're both frustrated."

"We knew having kids would put stress on our marriage. Everyone tells you that, right? Our marriage was strong before we had kids. We figured we'd just roll with the punches. We never used to fight before. Of course we got a lot more sleep before! But regardless of the reason, things aren't as good as they could be. Is this how it will be until the kids move out? I find myself looking at you sometimes and just wondering, who ARE you? And who am I?"

"We don't get to spend enough time together. I miss my husband, even though we begin and end each day together."

"Things are good between us, I just feel like we aren't as close as we used to be. I can't put my finger on it. Something is just missing."

"I fell in love with my wife and knew this was it. She is the one I want to spend my life with. Now we are living the life we planned, but nothing I do is good enough. She is bitter and I am resentful. Of what, I don't know. Just this nagging unease."

"We try to take time for each other. You know, the whole theory of "keep dating while you're married" and all that. But a date never seems to get us quite caught up enough with each other. We are looking for some real quality time - like we used to give each other before we got married. Some good talks. Some quiet time. Feeling connected. How can you do that at home with all the distractions? We are looking forward to our Marriage Encounter."

Comments about the weekend...

"Our marriage was being pulled in many different directions--jobs, kids, and financial difficulties. Colleen and I didn't have time for one another. Marriage Encounter gave us the tools to help us slow down and put the focus back on us! It's now a wonderful part of our daily lives."

"Paul and I had a great marriage for 21 years but some of the "spark" had disappeared since our early married years. Our Marriage Encounter Weekend reignited the spark, and reminded us of how important we are to each other. We are as happy as newlyweds once again!!"

"Scott and I were overjoyed to find out about the three stages in marriage --romance, disillusionment, and joy. Our weekend helped us to realize that we struggle with many of the same things other couples do. Marriage Encounter taught us how to communicate and relate to one another again!"

"Since Marriage Encounter, Margie and I have a more fulfilling and exciting marriage! We now look forward to the time we spend together. "

"We had a good marriage before the weekend, but our personality differences made communication in some areas difficult. Through Marriage Encounter, we learned to put our differences aside and really listen to each other. Alejandn, and I are now closer than we ever thought possible!"

"Dennis and I often thank God for the gift of our weekend. Our marriage has been enriched with greater communication and deeper intimacy!"

"Our weekend gave Jean and me everything we needed to "fall deeply in love with one another again". The beautiful enhancement of our sexual relationship will stay with us for the rest of our lives! "

"I place much of my hope for the future in Marriage Encounter."
-Pope John Paul II

* Marriage Encounter is not intended for marriages in severe crisis. Separated couples or couples who are considering separation are encouraged to go on a Retrouvaille weekend, not a Marriage Encounter weekend.
